Less than three months after selecting PeopleSoft
as the enterprise software that will replace the
state's aging central administrative systems, the
OAKS Program Management Office (PMO) reached another
milestone by releasing a request for proposals (RFP)
for system integration services. The RFP, released
on December 27, 2004, through the Office of Information
Technology Investment and Governance Division's
Acquisition Management section, received input from
agency and vendor reviewers prior to its release.
When the RFP evaluation process is complete,
the OAKS PMO expects that the selected system
integrator will begin working with the OAKS team
in spring 2005. Prior to the integrator's start,
the state will be working with a Business Transformation
Architect to begin the process of evaluating and
transforming its business processes to meet the
strategic goals of OAKS.
To help with this work, the OAKS PMO will select
a vendor through an invitation for proposals (IFP)
process. The IFP was issued January 18, 2005,
with work expected to begin by the end of February.
The Business Transformation Architect effort will
overlap arrival of the system integrator's team
to provide a "jump start" and to ensure
continuity in the integration work.
The state announced its selection of PeopleSoft
software on October 1, 2004. On December 13, 2004,
Oracle Corporation and PeopleSoft USA, Inc. announced
that Oracle would acquire PeopleSoft. Oracle has
made a public commitment to continued support
and enhancement for PeopleSoft products, and the
PMO is confident that the state's investment in
PeopleSoft will be protected for years to come.
